Yuri Leschev and Hadran Promotions (Dio, ARIA) are bringing Lamb of G-d to Tel Aviv. It’s somewhat ironic because when I met them at Ozzfest in 2005 I asked them if they would ever come to Israel and the vocalist said, “Not until the war is over.” Well, they’re playing in Tel Aviv on my wedding day. Different war, I guess.

Again, Wendy Dio via Rudy Sarzo… “Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever. Wendy.”

Metal great Rudy Sarzo posted the following on Facebook from Ronnie James Dio’s wife, Wendy Dio this morning: “I am at the hospital and Ronnie has NOT passed away!!!! He is not doing good, but he is not dead.”
We at Metal Israel wish Ronnie James Dio a complete healing – רפו××” שלמה – he put on a great show in Tel Aviv a few years ago and we’re hoping to see him back there ASAP.

ISRAEL: Metal Israel
Desert – Letter Of Marque
The evocative mastery of classic dark power metal act Desert exports a majestically melodic, edgy onslaught laced with influences from Judas Priest to Deep Purple. They’ve shared the stage with Sabaton and Draconian and show formidable talent and promise.

The only complaint about this show was that Dark Tranquillity’s set was way too short (and that the other bands sucked!). Dark Tranquillity played like a glistening H.R. Giger machine with all parts honed to evocative melodic perfection. They’re coming back to the States next week – check tour dates here.
Unfortunately, unless I take a road trip to Philly alone I can’t see them because they are playing NYC on Shabbos, to my utter and sheer disappointment and dismay. In any case, here are the photos taken by critically acclaimed Israeli photographer Mark Yashaev.
The exclusive interview with Mikael Stanne will be fully transcribed and posted when I can get around to it (marriage plans and traveling kill schedules) and printed in Raven Music‘s RockPoint Magazine for Israeli readers. Meanwhile, check out all of the awesome 313 photos here on Picasa. And pay respect to Mark – first time he ever was at a metal show, let alone shot one….
After a decade, Lord Ezec aka Danny Diablo comes back with one of the greatest NYHC bands ever, Skarhead. The material is really in your face hardcore style with the raw energy. Besides that, he is building the solo career with the International Hardcore Superstar album. So we have a lot to talk about..
