Desert (featuring Joakim Broden)Lament For Soldier’s Glory: Order 227
Israel is comprised of many Russian-born people, some Jewish, some not. Lament For Soldier’s Glory: Order 227 by Desert taps into Russian history, describing Stalin’s cruel command that any soldier captured by the enemy was considered a traitor. Its haunting melodies and driving rhythms sonically depict pain and determination. And as all of Desert served (or are still serving) in the Israeli army, they know what it means to fight for survival. Vocalist Joakim Broden of Sweden’s Sabaton (Nuclear Blast Records) lends his talents to the tale of war and blood.

Metalsucks.net Reports: EXCLUSIVE TRACK PREMIERE: DUKATALON’S “ZX”

by skazm // November 4th, 2010
Jewview, Mischief

It’s like they looked around went, “Well, this sucks — WE’RE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FUCKING DESERT,” and then made music to express the sensation of dying from thirst (slowly and agonizingly). Dukatalon make metal so thick that if you try to put your first through it, you’ll just get stuck, consumed, and killed. It’s evil, evil, EVIL shit.

Check it out here at Metalsucks.net.

by skazm // November 2nd, 2010
International CD Review, International Interview, LinkedIn, Mischief

The infamous Bela Nagy has yet again scored an wicked interview spanning the shaky bridge between hip-hop and metal…

Q-Unique aka Capital Q is quite a legendary name in the indie hip-hop world. Hailing from Brooklyn and The Bronx, the MC/producer is in a tumultuous period now. He just released the second solo record Between Heaven & Hell and –the readers of Metal Israel might already know- he is about to put out the debut LP of his rock/metal influenced group with Fieldy of KoRn.

photos by yours truly, click one to see about 140 more with some COB shots (which all suck except maybe one)

It was a chilly autumn night, last night, wind coming off of the water.  The river was scattered with glowing reflections from downtown Pittsburgh’s lights, running under the many area bridges.  There’s one humorously called the Hot Metal Bridge, but that’s not the one that’s closest to the Trib Total Media Amphitheatre.  It should have been, though, for last night’s Berzerkus Tour with 2 cents, Clutch, Children of Bodom and the infamous Black Label Society featuring Zakk Wylde was a hot metal (or cold metal, or just plain METAAAAL) show that would have blown the roof off had it been an indoor venue…

ISRAEL: Metal Israel
ACE And The DeckMr. Grieves (Pixies cover)
ACE And The Deck take the Pixies’ Mr. Grieves, stir it up with reggae, shake it up with psychobilly, throw in some surf punk and cut it with a generous helping of arak. Their debut album is a veritable musical arsenal taking the best from all genres, and hits the market on December 13.

I’d also like to welcome The Guardian Music Blog who is now a part of the Music Alliance Pact – that means, a lot of Israeli bands are going to get even more amazing exposure. MAP is an awesome, awesome thing. Kudos to Jason of the Pop Cop for hooking it up!

Gabriel Che of IsraHellLocalScene posted awesome photos of the Cerebral Bore / Viscera Trail show here – check them out!  And check out a clip of them doing Thunderstruck!

Cerebral Bore is a grindcore act mostly made of Scots fronted by a Dutch girl named Som Pluijmers who makes a gratuitous amount of male singers out there sound like serious wussbunnies. Crazy stuffings.
