Except for the Music Alliance Pact, Metal Israel is going on hiatus. I have too much stuff going on to update everything and write articles at this point in time (especially ’cause it’s pro-bono unless I’m getting into a show).

In any case, if anyone wants to write articles, push their own bands or contribute to Metal Israel in any way, you’re welcome to and I can post it – but I cannot put in my own new content right now.

The Facebook page will still be updated with stuff I find humorous.

Yerachmiel – Yom Shekulo
Yerachmiel “Rocky” Ziegler is an international musician who owns Little Apple Studios in the trendy Jerusalem artists’ enclave Nachlaot. He is an authentically indie artist, though his work is distributed worldwide and features on several albums. Yerachmiel’s music spans several genres but this specific song, Yom Shekulo, is a trance-rock rendition of ancient Passover liturgy that speaks of Messianic times (and it really picks up quite nicely in the middle).

Ynet reports: With all the problems Israel has explaining its position to the outside world, one ardent supporter has risen: an international rock star who wants to make aliyah and build a house here: David Draiman, vocalist of rock band Disturbed. “Soldiers, yeshiva boys and even girls in ulpan want my signature,” he says… he even wants to move to Israel!

Being very very quiet about it, for a few years already, David Draiman, one of the biggest rock/metal performers in the world has come to Israel in recent times. The man really loves Israel, and he would make aliyah if his band only had the opportunity to.

Orphaned Land performed to a sold-out Reading 3 in Tel Aviv in honor of their 20th Anniversary on Thursday, December 9 (the day I had to leave the country, to my dismay) The commemorative DVD is coming out on Century Media sooner than later.

Ynet reports: The Swedish band Meshuggah is G-d willing going to play Thursday, March 24 at the Barby – Tel Aviv at the hands of ICP Concerts.

They were supposed to come to Israel a couple of years ago in the ill-fated Anthem Festival which was one of the biggest scams to ever be perpetrated on the Israeli metal public.

Tickets will be available at the usual places.

Winterhorde – The Tenth Wave
Winterhorde is a blacker than the blackest black metal band from the north of Israel. Unfortunately, Israel’s north is pretty black right now itself with hundreds of acres of forest destroyed by the largest fire in the country’s history with a death toll of over 40. In any case, Winterhorde’s sonic path twists from symphonic melodies to sheer straight-up metal intensity, melding these two extremes with elegance and professionalism. Winterhorde will freeze your soul with its echoes of longing, darkness and unrelenting desperation. Good stuff created in a classic vein.

Our country is so weak and pathetic. That’s the reason why our country’s in the state it’s in. My dad was a World War II vet, he was an orphan, his sister died in the orphanage, he went from the orphanage straight to Normandy, winter, spent four and half years in the war, got blown up, the whole nine yards. Got a steel plate in his leg, a hearing aid, the whole nine yards. Married his first wife Marilyn, she passed away with Lou Gehrig’s disease, married my mother – she died the same day Marilyn died – I mean, my dad never saw a psychiatrist. He was just like, “Well, gotta go to work today.” And that’s that. It’s like “Doesn’t it bother you?” “Yeah, I’m very upset, but what do you want me to do? You want me to stick a gun in my mouth and blow my head off? What do you want me to do?” Tough shit, suck it up, and get on with it. Tough luck, you know what I mean?
