Sonne AdamWe Who Worship The Black
Jens Prueter, head of A&R at Century Media Europe, puts it best: “We are proud to sign a young band from Tel Aviv, Israel that knows the meaning of death unfortunately better than most of us. Sonne Adam mix the old doom/death of early Paradise Lost and technical insanity of early Morbid Angel with a fresh passion and raw energy that reminds me of the hunger and dedication I heard 20 years ago, without sounding retro.” Black Sabbath dirges mix with rabid speed to create an aural monstrosity. I are amused.

Kind of nonplussed at how they mentioned so few bands, however.

JTA: Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters Joins Boycott Movement

by skazm // March 6th, 2011
Mischief

What a self-righteous douchebag. I already knew he was a racist by his ostensibly innocent juxtaposition of Jewish stars and dollar signs in his last performance stage footage:

(JTA) — Former Pink Floyd frontman Roger Waters has officially joined the the campaign of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions against Israel, and is urging fellow artists to do the same.

In a letter posted on the website of the Alternative information Center, Waters said he would continue to wage a boycott campaign against Israel until it ends its occupation of the West Bank and dismantles the security fence, grants full equality to Arab citizens of Israel and allows all Palestinian refugees to return to their homes in Israel.

“Where governments refuse to act, people must, with whatever peaceful means are at their disposal,” Waters, a co-founder of the Pink Floyd rock band, wrote in the letter dated Feb. 25. “For me it means declaring my intention to stand in solidarity, not only with the people of Palestine, but also with the many thousands of Israelis who disagree with their governments racist and colonial policies, by joining a campaign of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) against Israel.

“My conviction is born in the idea that all people deserve basic human rights. My position is not anti-Semitic. This is not an attack on the people of Israel. This is, however, a plea to my colleagues in the music industry, and also to artists in other disciplines, to join this cultural boycott.”

Waters last performed in Israel in 2006. After visiting Jerusalem and Bethlehem and viewing the security fence — on which he spray-painted “we don’t need no thought control,” a lyric from the Pink Floyd song “Another Brick in the Wall” — he canceled his concert at a sports stadium in Tel Aviv and moved it to Neve Shalom, a village in which Jews and Arabs live together in a planned community.

Waters’ announcement comes on the heels of reports that folk music icon Pete Seeger had officially joined the boycott movement, though in an interview last week with JTA Seeger said he is still learning about the issue and his opinion changes as he continues to acquire new information.

Artists including Elvis Costello and the Pixies have canceled concerts in Israel in recent months, citing political reasons.

Israel’s SONNE ADAM Signs With CENTURY MEDIA RECORDS

taken from Blabbermouth…

Israel-based old-school death metallers SONNE ADAM have inked a worldwide deal with Century Media Records. The band’s debut album, “Transformation”, will be released in Europe on April 4.orldwide deal with Century Media Records. The band’s debut album, “Transformation”, will be released in Europe on April 4.

Commented Jens Prueter, head of A&R at Century Media Records in Europe, “Back in 1991, Century Media Records released the groundbreaking debut albums by ASPHYX, GRAVE, MORGOTH and UNLEASHED as well as the second album of TIAMAT. It was the year death metal changed the metal world and thousands of bands were founded in garages around the world. 20 years later we are proud to sign a young band from Tel Aviv, Israel that knows the meaning of death, unfortunately, better than most of us.

“SONNE ADAM mix the old doom/death of early PARADISE LOST and technical insanity of early MORBID ANGEL with a fresh passion and raw energy that reminds me of the hunger and dedication I heard in the aforementioned debut albums 20 years ago, without sounding retro.

“Welcome to a new chapter of Century Media death metal!”

The history of SONNE ADAM (which roughly translates into “hate humanity” in Hebrew) dates back to 2007 when a young Israeli duo consisting of Davidov (all instruments) and Dahan (vocals) started a musical project to create “death metal in the vein of early PARADISE LOST but with a more shamelessly evil and blasphemous touch and some MORBID ANGEL thrown in the mix.” The band’s first recording was an EP titled “The Sun Is Dead” (which so far remains unreleased), followed by another EP called “Armed With Hammers”, which caught the attention of underground label Imperium Productions from Germany, which subsequently released it on seven-inch vinyl in 2010. The resulting underground buzz culminated in renowned German magazine Rock Hard naming it “Demo Of The Month” and predicting the band to become a hot topic among all death metal maniacs.

After seeing SONNE ADAM developing into an amazing, highly promising underground act, Century Media Records picked them up for the release of the band’s debut album, “Transformation”, in cooperation with Imperium Productions, which will handle the album’s vinyl version.

The members of SONNE ADAM never thought they would end up on such a renowned metal label. Davidov states, “We didn’t imagine that we will receive so much attention when we wrote the album a year and a half ago, when the ‘Armed With Hammers’ EP wasn’t even released yet. Hell, we didn’t even know back than how strong the old-school death metal scene will be again. We never were ‘label hunters’ so it was a big surprise.

“Actually, being from Israel and signing to a big label is more crucial than you think as we are very isolated from our crowd.

“No matter what, our heart is in the underground. Always was and always will be!

“If someone thinks that we are selling out he can go fuck himself. We are very pleased with signing with Century Media.”

The cornerstones of SONNE ADAM’s sound are heavy, downtuned, diverse and all-consuming lava-esque riffs, unholy, triumphant vocals, thundering drums and a song-writing filled to the brim with fascinating twist and turns. Combined with metaphorical, dark and blasphemous lyrics, “Transformation” ultimately stands out from the mass as an authentic, occult and earnest metal opus that leaves nothing to desire and should find many new supporters among extreme metalheads worldwide. It’s an album that propagates originality implying respect for the original precursors and creative ingenuity in equal measure. It’s damn great dark death metal, plain and simple…

Israeli Metal from Ashkelon

Blank Divinity

ISRAEL: Metal Israel
Blank DivinityIn Another Life
Blank Divinity is a metal band from Ashkelon, a seaside city no stranger to rocket attacks. They rightfully boast transcendence over all metal genres into their own sometimes brutal, sometimes melodic and most of the time completely shredding brand just waiting to be picked up by the right record company. Their talent is undeniable (though their occasional female vocalist is not to my taste) and I can definitely see these guys playing the major European festivals one day. Check them out.

MTV To Broadcast the Big Four Sonisphere Concert in March

taken from crawdaddy.com

The New York Hard Rock Examiner is proud to exclusively reveal that footage of The Big Four – Anthrax, Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica – playing at the Sophia Sonisphere last summer will be premiering on MTV Network channels Palladia and VH1 Classic this March.

MTV confirmed today that select songs from each band, as well as the lauded group jam on Am I Evil, will first air on March 19th. The footage has become a best-selling DVD and Blu-ray title and was simulcast live in movie theaters across the country, but this will mark the first time it airs on a basic cable channel and at no extra cost to the viewer. In an added bonus, the footage will be airing in high definition on Palladia, which prides itself on HD concert content. Read more about the Palladia network and its other rock and metal content here.

The Big Four announced a single US date last week, to take place in Southern California, and while the rest of the country was greatly disappointed by the lack of a larger tour, it has certainly whetted the appetite of fans excited over the historical nature of the Big Four playing together, perhaps making the Palladia and VH1 Classic broadcasts a bit of a consolation prize for those of us unable to travel to the California show.

Premiering alongside The Big Four will be additional footage of other bands and performances from Sonisphere, and that weekend will also see a new season of Eddie Trunk’s That Metal Show kicking off as well, making March 19th a great day for your TiVo or DVR. As always, stay tuned to the Hard Rock Examiner for further information on tickets and all local rock and heavy metal news by subscribing at the top of this page, or follow Eli Levin at twitter.com/NYROCKEXAMINER.

“Doomsday” – Betzefer’s Avital Tamir & The Bong Bros. Bring Down Jew Zombie Wrath In A Big Way

Avital told me it’s not anti-religious, and it was just my complex for thinking so, so….

“Doomsday” is a short zombie-flick with strong Israeli and Jewish motifs, promoting BETZEFER’s sophomore album “Freedom to the Slave Makers”. It was written and directed by BETZEFER frontman Avital Tamir’s film-maker group, the Bong Bros, initially as part of their upcoming feature film “A Land Flowing”. The band’s heavy involvement in the production, from contributing a song by the same name, “Doomsday”, to the soundtrack, to guitarist Matan Cohen-Grumi doing post-production, led to the band using the film as a teaser for their upcoming album which will be released worldwide on Feb. 18th, 2011 by AFM Records.

Marty Friedman, Megadeth’s former guitarist, will come to Israel for the third time and stage a performance on May 31, at the Reading 3 Club in Tel Aviv. Friedman lives in recent years in Japan, where he became a television personality.

It will be Friedman’s third visit in Israel, as he came to Israel in the nineties with Megadeth. The inimitable Yishai Sweartz is the producer responsible for bringing him back.

Friedman, a virtuoso guitarist, joined the band “Megadeth'” in the 90s and played on their albums throughout the decade. In 1999, he retired from the band and cultivated a solo career with many albums and became admired from touring around the world. Friedman, a Jew, unfortunately married out of the religion to a Japanese woman after several years of  living in Japan. At the same time as his musical career, he became a television personality because of the music. In addition, the musician became a columnist for a daily Japanese newspaper. His last album, “Bad DNA” was released last year.

In 2007 Friedman appeared in Israel to more than a thousand spectators at The Theater Club in Jaffa. Friedman opened the show playing guitar and the national anthem, “Hatikva.”

In an interview with Ynet, said then: “For me to come here twice and play my music for these people is the ultimate thing. The last time I was in Israel, I did not manage to stay a lot in Tel Aviv. Now I realize how everything is close to the sea and how beautiful it is here.   So when I come next time, I’ll also leave a few days off. “
