(and happy holidays)

OK, although for all intents and purposes Metal Israel is dead until I figure out what to do with it, it is a wonderful time of year so I will share metal or punk oriented clips with you to spread the Hanukkah light.

Also, may G-d avenge every drop of blood spilled in Mumbai a thousandfold…and make the Muslim terrorists suffer a million times more than each of those six Jews did… one of them was my cousin’s brother-in-law (Teitelbaum, HYD)…

On that cheery note:

Maor Appelbaum Interviewed by Dave Ellefson of Megadeth

As I wrote in his LinkedIn profile – Maor Appelbaum is a beacon of decency in a cut-throat music industry.. a fixture of the Israeli metal scene who produced many bands there – on his quest of global domination in LA where he’s mastering such artists as Halford, Yngwie Malmsteeen and others…Dave Ellefson gave respect, so should you!!!!

Global Metal: The Israeli Part of It

Thanks to Ronen Tsumer for the link … and to Yishai Swearts for saving me the trouble of calling everyone 🙂

I was interviewed about the “Angel of Death” question (thank G-d it wasn’t in the film, cause I was drunk and cursed out all of these bands a lot of you people worship), and I said, “My knowledge of the Angel of Death. Mengele, comes from my cousin, who told me that when she was in the selection lines in Auschwitz, “The monster put his hands on me,” and spun her around, to see if she could still stand up, that she tried, with all her strength to stand up, and she barely made it to the work line.

anyway, there was some stuff spoken by the artists that was just silly, in my opinion, but whatever, have respect…

taken from knac.com… if any of you have American friends that can help with this, check this out…

The Search For The Next Great Metal Band Begins

Indie record stores across the USA are teaming with Metal Blade Records, www.recordstoreday.com, RED, and Decibel magazine (see list of prize sponsors below) to host The Search For The Next Great Metal Band.

The search, announced at the Noise In The Basement Creative Conference in Baltimore, will officially commence on October 1st 2008 and will continue through April 18, 2009 (Record Store Day 2009), with in-store performances from regional champions and a promotional compilation CD. As well, Metal Blade artists Unearth will host a listening party and pre-release signing for their upcoming album The March at The Sound Garden in Baltimore as part of The Search For The Next Great Metal Band event.

The winning band will be chosen by Brian Slagel, founder of Metal Blade Records.

For those with an unyielding mandate to rock hard, here’s how it will work…
Bands who lean heavy and can take it to the people, live, are encouraged to submit 3 of their best songs, a bio, a press photo, and all of their digits and links to participating independent record store outlets starting on the contest commencement date (10/1), who will in turn, submit the bands to the certain brutal scrutiny of our judges. (Find full details on submission requirements at participating stores) The winning band will benefit from the national exposure with both the public and the metal community, and will receive a prize pack from following sponsors, (complete value and make-up of prize pack still being determined):

* ESP GUITARS
* KRANK Amplifers
* Puma
* Rotosound
* *District Lines
* Atticus

A confirmed list of participating stores nationwide will be found on www.recordstoreday.com.

The Israeli metal scene is expanding at a tremendous rate.

The metal concert industry in Israel is enormous. People regularly pay upwards of 200 shekel a ticket to see international bands.

Israeli bands are constantly touring, playing in European festivals to thousands of foreigners, creating interest in the country. Touring and band merchandise is the bread and butter of the global metal scene especially in light of the downloading epidemic, but the metal community is the most loyal of record buyers because of identification with the artists, the collectability of albums, their artwork, etc.

There is a lot of money to be made here.

Metal Israel was founded in 2004 before the explosion of the metal scene because of the obvious quality innate to the scene and because of my desire to link American and international Jewry to Israel by a culture whose acolytes globally share few differences: heavy metal music.

Since Metal Israel is the only webzine promoting the Israeli metal scene in English, it has served as a keyhole for the international metal community to catch a glimpse of the Israeli metal scene as well as some issues pertaining to Israeli society.

I have been writing articles, conducting interviews and taking photos of Israeli and international bands almost singlehandedly since Metal Israel’s inception.

Metal Israel has other accomplishments. I initiated the “Israel Unleashed” compilation of Jewish Music Group and have worked behind-the-scenes in countless different public relations capacities to promote Israeli bands pro bono.

Metal Israel has at least 3000 unique readers monthly, most of them outside of Israel.

The time has come for investors with enough financial backing to buy out Metal Israel as my personal interests are no longer reflected in the site’s original intent, yet its unique niche is undeniable and will likely be lucrative for those with the proper backing and knowledge of how to utilize it.

This option will allow the purchaser to control the media, message and advertising viewed by a completely focused niche numbering in the thousands: the Israeli and English speaking metal community either located in or interested in Israel, as well as the global metal scene interested in the in-depth international band interviews, some of which are of an unabashedly Jewish or Israeli angle. Obviously, due to the purchaser’s financial status, more effort re: Google adwords, SEO and banner advertising will generate many more hits than my simple linking on message board forums.
