Seek Irony Collaborate With “The Enemy?”

While perusing the Seek Irony Myspace Blog, I discovered that recently, Seek Irony collaborated with a Lebanese band called Blood Ink about last summer’s war.

The bands became friends while Seek Irony were in the States recording their album with Sylvia Massey Shivey, before the war broke out. They wrote this song together to vent their frustrations at the fact that the whole word thinks each side hates each other (there are a few exceptions). It’s ironic to note that although no one from Seek Irony faced any pressure from anyone in Israel not to record with the Lebanese act, Blood Ink, except for vocalist Rab, pulled out of the collaboration because of the fear of reprisal against anyone who would dare work with Israelis.

The song, which can be heard on Seek Irony’s Myspace site is called “Everything We Are.” If I was to categorize it I would lump it in the same category as Korn and Linkin Park style but better – there’s also a Mizrachi tinge that doesn’t try to be there, it flows with the rest of the song quite aptly. You can read the lyrics on the Myspace page as well. Check it out.

  1. This is ridiculous. Why do these Israelis do all this peace loving crap all the time?

  2. I think vocalist Kfir Gov is far from stupid but I think that his desire for real peace may blind him like same desire does to many Israelis.

OK, it’s really nice that this guy Rab risked his life and sang with him and whatnot. But the fact of the matter remains that we don’t have our soldiers back, and I don’t think it’s wise to go around preaching there should be no war when in order to survive, we need that war. As far as I know, had we not withdrawn from Lebanon Hizbullah wouldn’t have had the ability to infest the country the way they did.

I wonder how Rab feels about the facts that his people voted Hizbullah into his government as a legitimate political party. How can I have pity on a country like that?

I think portraying Lebanon as a poor bullied weakling aids in their denial of responsibility. I’m sure had they shown real initiative in taking care of Hizbullah, America and Israel would have helped them.

Then again, I’m not a political analyst – I don’t claim that I know everything. My gut feeling, however, is as long as we don’t have those soldiers back, the hell with Lebanon, I don’t care if the whole place falls into the water.
