Megadeth to Play Israel July 2, 2007

MEGADETH will perform in Tel Aviv, Israel on July 2. The show will mark the band’s first appearance in Israel since June 2005 when the group’s performance at the Metalist Festival was stopped after only four songs due to the crowd’s rowdy behavior (whateeeeeeeeeeever).

According to Ynetnews.com, MEGADETH’s June 22, 2005 concert was cut short after stage barricades fell into the audience. Police instructed the crowd to exit the grounds and ended the Metalist Festival earlier than scheduled.

Thanks Yoni Harold for telling me and Blabbermouth for giving me what to copy n paste…even though it was 5 songs, not 4 according to Matanya “Lemmy” Keller.

Whoa, hoh! This just in, again from Blabbermouth – I love Dave Mustaine for this.

MEGADETH mainman Dave Mustaine recently spoke to Revolver magazine (web site) about the band’s upcoming CD, “United Abominations”. The album title is a play on “United Nations” (the self-described “global associations of governments”) and the album cover features the United Nations building being destroyed.

“The whole premise of the U.N. was to prevent war,” he railed, “but they’re totally ineffective. What just happened with Israel and Lebanon, and why did it take that long to stop? Look what happend with Saddam Husein — 17 resolutions, and he just kept spitting in their face. And now the “blue helmets” are raping women and little girls in these African countries? Come on! How long is the public going to be blind to this?

“I know I’m not making any friends at the U.N. with this album,” Mustaine continued with a harsh laugh. But, frankly, he’s not worried. Like many born-again Christians, Mustaine favors the interpetation of the Book of Revelations that views the founding of the United Nations — and its eventual demise — as part of the prophesied events that will inevitably lead to the Second Coming. “I got saved a few years ago, and I believe the Bible says that the U.N. is going to fail. In order for the predictions in the Book of Revelations to take place, it’s gotta fail. I don’t ever expect to go there, except to look where the building used to be, you know? I hope that someones going to pull the chain, and that’s where the butthole of the United States is, and it just disappears!”

Oh HELLS yeh. I hope there’s like, a mini tsunami in the East River that just knocks the whole fkn building over in one fell swoop. Flush it all away…

  1. i just wanna ask out of curiosity: how popular is metal in israel? is there a large thriving community or a small close-knit underground?

  2. well, I mean, you got a lot of bands on the side, you can see…5,000 people came to see Megadeth play the other summer… international acts play there all the time and usually sell out… it’s small and close knit I guess but at the same time it’s large and thriving..anyone else have any opinions?

  4. I came to Israel recently from the United States and so, in comparison to the US, the metal/hard rock community is small. BUT it is still definitely there and thriving. I personally see Israel swinging slowly but surely from a pop and techno infatuation to acceptance of more hard-core music.
