Dory from Eternal Gray messages from Germany where he’s promoting Eternal Gray to get the record deal and the shows they deserve:

“Through the years we have been working very hard and in a highly professional manner and for some reason we gain much more success out there (the rest of the world) than in Israel.

“I can’t complain about Israel but the support is much wider over Europe. For example – recently we closed a deal with a Turkish label (Atlantis Music) to re-release our debut album “Kindless” in a special Turkish edition. They also organized shows for us (the first is with fuckin SODOM!). And – none of the Israeli websites (metal sites) were telling that story, although it’s not a common one.

“We are talking about a band from Israel for fuck’s sake.. our Homeland, something that we should be fuckin’ proud of. But people are (instead) digging news about bands from abroad.

“Now: Our album sold in Israel around 1000 copies and we’re still counting. So, I don’t get which part of the equation is broken. What can I say – it’s not the way things should be like.”

In other words, where is the love from the Israeli media? The fans are buying the albums (1000 sold in Israel is no joke) despite, however.

Necro: The Pre-Fix For Death

Jew CD Review

Thanks to my Magyar Bela Nagy for hooking it up…if you can read Hungarian check out his zine at http://www.salatamagazin.com. Necro is a fellow tribesman with a potty mouth worse than mine who’s quite entertaining, but if you have purity issues like I should consider yourself duly warned – IT AIN’T PRETTY.

I’m always searching for something fresh and new in music. To tell you the truth, it’s not a frequent thing to find a new artist whose album really impresses me. But when I first heard New York’s Necro I was like “Hell yeah that’s what I’m talkin’ about!” It was the Gory Days period when I first came into contact with his works. The dirty beats and flow just shredded me. As much as I like Gory Days, when he dropped “The Pre-Fix For Death” through his own record label Psycho+Logical-Records, it was definitely the next level.

Most people call Necro a rapper. But the way I see things he isn’t “just” a rapper.  His music is not only for rappers. He mixes the hiphop, the death metal and metal in a very unique way. He lived a real metal life cuz when he was 12 years old played rhythm guitar in a death metal band called Injustice with his brother, Non Phixion’s ILL BiLL. They opened for bands like Sepultura, Obituary and Biohazard. With “The Pre-Fix For Death” he created a new term: death rap. Yes, this album is the embodiment of death rap. Raw, energic and brutal. In a hiphop record I never heard that kind of hardcore energy before. You can find some real metalhiphop (Necro created this term too) tracks with metal and hardcore legends like Away of Voivod, John Tardy and Trevor Peres of Obituary, Jamey Jasta and Sean Martin of Hatebreed, Sid Wilson of Slipknot, Dan Lilker of Nuclear Assault and Lord Ezec aka Danny Diablo of Skarhead/Crown Of Thornz. The cover is classic as well, made by Edward J. Repka, who worked with bands like Death, Megadeth, Vio-lence etc. This record offers some new and creative things for every heavy music listener. Don’t sleep on Necro either, cuz he just started a new death/thrash metal band with Sepultura’s Igor Cavalera.

That’s really cute.

(Blabbermouth)

AMASEFFER, the new “holy project” from Andy Kuntz, enigmatic lead singer of German progressive metal band VANDEN PLAS, has finished writing the first of the trilogy of albums recounting the story of Exodus. Several members of the band are now in pre-production in Israel before they enter Bazement Studio in Germany on December 1 to begin recording the effort. Kuntz is presently working on his vocal lines and lyrics in his hometown of Kaiserslautern, Germany. Mattias Noren (KAMELOT, EVERGREY, BEYOND TWILIGHT) has created the CD cover.

According to drummer and main songwriter Erez Yohanan, the upcoming CD will contain ten tracks with a running time of 74 minutes and will feature guest appearances by VANDEN PLAS keyboardist Gunter Werno (D.C. COOPER, KAMELOT, SECTION A) and ORPHANED LAND singer Kobi Farhi (who will narrate the albums).

Silverpill, The Barby, Tel Aviv – 03.09.06

Silverpill, a Black Sabbath cover band from Holland, tore up the Barby last night. They played all of the beloved classics: you name it, they played it. They were basically true to form but they sometimes put their own slight bent on the songs. Their application of distortion created a much heavier and tighter, even thrashier sound than the original in some instances. The lead singer sounded enough like Ozzy so as not to be offensive and was actually quite skilled on guitar as well. The respectably sized crowd was happy. The production seemed to be relaxed and professional with none the obvious glitch. Many thanks to Moshel and Oren Toft for letting me in. Here are some pictures.

Last Night At the Old Friend – 12.08.06

Old Friend Rock Bar closed its doors on August 12. Weird Chicken played there – unfortunately, I missed it cause they finished playing at like 2300 – I never heard something so ridiculous in my life but I guess it’s a residential area as well or something and they had a time cutoff for live music – no wonder they’re moving. Anyway, here are pics of the Weird Chicken after party– heh.

David Draiman Represents!!

תפחד is right…

(VH1)

Megan O’Toole of ChartAttack.com reports:

DISTURBED frontman David Draiman is an Israeli. His brother is in Jerusalem, and he has family in Haifa as well. One friend has been killed, another injured, and his frustration with the conflict between Israel and Lebanon is clear. So, too, is his allegiance.

“If Lebanon can’t get rid of the Hezbollah threat, Israel is forced to do what it must. I don’t think you’ll see another nation in history that’s had to deal with what Israel has had to deal with… There’s only so far you can be pushed. Ultimately, [Hezbollah] committed an act of war: they crossed the border and kidnapped soldiers.

“I think we should wipe them all out — every terrorist, every war-mongering piece of garbage. We should congregate them all on one island and nuke it. A line must be drawn.”
