Iron Maiden’s Bruce Dickinson Flew The Rangers Soccer Team to Israel…(BBC CAN GO TO HELL)

by skazm // February 20th, 2007
Mischief

The capital of Israel is Jerusalem. Either the writer of this article is just plain stupid or he is trying to say Israel has no right to Jerusalem. In any case, they can go to hell. But this is still very cool.

Bruce Dickinson

Bruce Dickinson doubles as Iron Maiden frontman and pilot

Heavy metal legend Bruce Dickinson was at the controls as Rangers football club flew to Israel for a Uefa Cup tie. The Iron Maiden frontman piloted a 757 jet from Glasgow ahead of Wednesday’s match against Hapoel Tel Aviv.

Metal Israel Seeking Artists for Compilations

by skazm // January 31st, 2007
Mischief

I’m proud to announce that Metal Israel, well, got a record deal.
Kind of.

I’ve been asked to produce two compilations for a label with major distribution.

1. A compilation of the best songs/bands Israel has to offer. It will be called Best of Metal Israel.

2. A compilation of hannukah songs written by artists from Israel and chul. It will be called “Hard and Heavy Chanukah” or something less gay. We’re doing this because we’re sick of Jewish artists doing Xmas albums and want to represent. We are seeking traditional Chanukah songs done in QUALITY metal…this is open to all nationalities but the Israeli scene being much more talented than most, I am hoping to see Israeli representation ba tiruf.

Some rules.

Unsigned bands only.
No heresy.
No girl singers.

If anyone is interested in the first compilation, please email me at metalisrael at gmail with the best song you feel you have.
If anyone is interested in either compilation but doesn’t have anything ready, I give you all a month and a half to get yourselves together, because that is when I am going to Los Angeles, Bezrat Hashem.

Get to work, people. This could be a tremendous opportunity for the right bands.

Rash Gash Guitars – 21 Chayim Vital – Florentin -TLV

by skazm // January 28th, 2007
Mischief

Rash Gash is run by two brothers, Zach and Josh Harvey.

Zach, who basically holds the fort down at 21 Chayim Vital Street in the trendy South Tel Aviv Florentin neighborhood, says, “We believe that the Israeli public deserves better guitars for less, or more, money. We¢re not trying to sell more generic guitars for cheaper prices, we intend to bring the small market wonders to Israel for very fair prices. Such products include vintage remakes, handmade goods, boutique equipment and just totally bad ass guitar-related instruments of noise.”

Zach, who moonlights as the lead squawker for Jerusalem veteran punk act Weird Chicken, has his own ethical interest in not exploiting the love of music. He shares that love himself. In November, I was there when he was opening up his latest shipment which included a brand new batch of DePinto guitars and some out-there vintage stuff like a Japanese import. Opening the boxes and unwrapping his stock, he looked like the epitome of a kid in a toy store. It’s like he gets Chanukah presents every day and he wants to share the wealth.
For a decent price.

Check it out at www.rashgash.com or www.myspace.com/rashgash. Also hear Weird Chicken at www.myspace.com/weirdchicken.
