Jewview, Mischief, Show Review

korozialogo.jpg

Korozia, the weekly metal magazine on Tel Aviv’s 106FM, disseminates information and news updates about the genre in Israel and abroad – the elements of metal like glam, doom, death, heavy, folk, power, speed, thrash, Viking and black metal.

The central idea is to create awareness of the metal genre, thought of as the underdog in Israel and abroad.

Golan Shai is the name of the guy who decided to try and redeem Israeli radio by creating a metal haven on the air, at least for two hours a week.

Besides the previously mentioned Nine Inch Nails gig, and Therion/Draconian shows, other musicians are making that trip over the pond…

Virgil Donati, Billy Sheehan and Tony Macalpine are hitting Israeli shores with their “Devil’s Slingshot Tour” this November 13th in Tel Aviv.

Donati and Macalpine are known for their work in Dream Theater spinoff Planet X while Billy Sheehan has played with everyone from Steve Vai, David Lee Roth and Terry Bozzio to his own infamous Mr. Big (aw come on, they were cute).

Thanks, Ynet.

Meanwhile, no less than three shows have been confirmed for Jethro Tull in Jerusalem, Binyamina and Caesarea. August 23, 24 and 25 respectively.

Mayhem is back September 29.

NOFX for October 5 in Jerusalem and October 6 in Tel Aviv.

Nightwish is confirmed for October 6 in Tel Aviv as well.

Yiddish metal.

I mean, they do it in Russian too. They have a project called “Sidur” that is in Russian for some reason. You can hear at their main page and their Myspace page.

The player is messing up my layout so you gotta check their website. Please note the last track on this player has high significance – the Jewish partisans sang it as they fought the Nazis (yimach shemom) in the forests of Europe.

So check it out. They’re kinda like Rammstein but, well, so much cooler. Unzer menschen.

And if anyone doesn’t like it, they can kishen me vie da Yidden hobt gereet (insert your favorite Yiddish curse here, I have several enjoyable choice phrases).

WhoreXcore: New Songs Up

by skazm // July 29th, 2007

These new songs from their upcoming EP ‘The Mundane Corruption’- the title track and ’36 Second Flatline’ are available by clicking the image above. They were mixed by Jacob Bredhal of Hatesphere and are indicative of a sheer brutality aimed to drip your brains from your busted eardrums, or some ridiculous statement like that.

Sven De Caluwe of Aborted makes his debut as one of the two vocalists of WhoreXcore (the other being a rather shiny-headed fellow who goes by the name of Jones).

It’s hooky, evil metal in grand style. Check it out.
