Giants of Metal Tribute Night – 31.10.07 – Old Friend, Jerusalem
by skazm // October 24th, 2007Mischief

OK, looking at my Myspace top friends, I note that three of the coolest unsigned bands in Israel, Shworchtsechaye, Whorecore, and The Fading are sporting the nifty little animated gif you see above as their icons, in a creative and tension-inducing sort of advertising campaign regarding an upcoming show. There are no details about the concert on any of their profiles however,
such as what time, and where it will be, etc.
However, obviously these three bands are involved.
Therefore, I would like to extend a hearty

to all of them for making said show on Shabbos, hence precluding my attendance and use of said show as an excuse to get back to Israel sooner.

I am happy to say that David McLees of JMG is deserving of his personal reputation as a man of decency and that all is well between us.
Back to where it all began…

According to a loose translation of theYnet article, they were supposed to have come to Israel a couple of years ago but ended up canceling that performance. Now they will be playing the Barby in Tel Aviv and joining the wave of artists and bands of that genre that have performed in Israel in the last year, among them Hatebreed, Marty Friedman, Paradise Lost, Behemoth, Megadeth, Therion, Draconian and Nightwish.”

Proven is a hardcore/metal band from Portland, Oregon. But it’s not just that simple in their case. We all hear new bands almost every minute but forget most of the names right after the listening. When you check out “Truth Reign Supreme” it will not happen with Proven, I guarantee that. It is a very original mix of the technique of metal and the heart and energy of hardcore. The songs are diverse and they all have their own world with the flavour of Proven. “The Compromise” (feat. Billy Graziadei) with its melodies, “This War” with its brutality and the technique of “A Memory Darkened” will etch in your brain at first listen.
Most of the songs are about everyday life, like the srtuggles, the brotherhood and beating up the enemies, themes we all can relate to. The whole record is produced, engineered and mixed by the living legend Billy Graziadei of Biohazard and Suicide City. The influence of Biohazard is heavily felt in the music of Proven, and they consider a big inspiration the likes of Pantera, Soilwork, Hatebreed etc. as well.
I’ve followed the path of Proven since the beginning (2005) and I truly believe that they have a really big chance to make their own history. The more and more Proven tattoos of the die-hard fans alone show that. They have the musical potential and the hard work mentality to bring their dreams alive. This is DOWN FOR LIFE music.
Amir Amram is the vocalist for techpoprock act DMA. DMA have already taken the steps indicative of a success plan in mind: they’ve toured outside Israel (in Canada), they’ve recorded with a hotshot producer in Germany, and well, read all about it…

Metal Israel would like to express condolences to Joe Altier of Brand New Sin on the loss of his father.
Again, thanks, Blabbermouth…
Matan Cohen from Betzefer, Evil Haim from WhoreCore and Yishai Sweartz from Raven Music are some of those who moonlight in Nail Within, which broke up in 2003. More info on that is available in the Blabbermouth link above, as is the video itself. Anyway, former At the Gates vocalist Tomas Lindberg and Kreator guitarist Mille Petrozza cameo in the video.
Lindberg will peform in their upcoming reunion show in Tel Aviv.
